Description
Museum CT scanner delivery. Delivery by crane and lorry of an advanced computed tomography (CT) scanner at the Jardin des Plantes site of the French National Museum of Natural History (MNHN), Paris, France. The marble slab that forms the base of the machine weighs more than 15 tons. Called the AST-RX (X-Ray Tomography Scientific Access Platform), this high-performance scanner cost over 800,000 euros. Designed for the non-invasive scanning and 3D modelling of fossil and biological specimens, it allows the microscopic study of internal structures. It was inaugurated in September 2011.
