Description
A pair of figures (computer generated)watches the night sky during a meteor shower. Showers such as these occur at fixed dates throughout the year, when Earth's orbit around the Sun takes it through the streams of dust left by comets as they orbit the Sun themselves. During these encounters, the dust particles strike the Earth's atmosphere, leaving glowing trails called meteors (or 'shooting stars') as they burn up. Showers are named after the constellations from which the meteors appear to be emanating.
