Description
Fly agaric mushroom (Amanita muscaria) in heather (Calluna vulgaris). Native to Europe and North America, fly agaric is a widely recognisable white-spotted red toadstool, famed for its hallucinogenic properties. It grows in birch, pine, spruce and fir woodlands from late summer to late autumn. Heather is commonly found on heaths and moorlands of Europe and Asia Minor. Photographed in the Scottish Highlands, UK.
