Description
Binary asteroid 90 Antiope. Artwork of the view from the surface of a binary asteroid towards its partner asteroid. This is asteroid 90 Antiope, which orbits in the main part of the outer asteroid belt. It was discovered on 1st October 1866 by the German astronomer Karl Luther. Each asteroid is 86 kilometres across, they are separated by 170 kilometres (centre to centre) and orbit each other with a period of 16.5 hours.
