Description
Wrights in Model HS airplane. US aviation pioneers Orville Wright (1871-1948) and his sister Katharine Wright (1874-1929) in the Wright Model HS airplane based on designs by the Wright brothers. Wilbur and Orville Wright produced a series of Wright aircraft models, starting with the first successful flight in a heaver-than-air machine (1903). Orville was seriously injured in a crash in 1908, and Katherine helped nurse him back to health. Wilbur died in 1912, and Orville sold the business in 1915. The Wright Model HS (1915) had an enclosed fuselage and shorter wings, which gave it greater speed than the Wright Model H. Photographed in 1915.
