Artist's Description

Wright Military Flyer, circa 1909. Demonstration flight by Orville Wright (1871-1948) of a biplane designed by the Wright brothers. US aviation pioneers Wilbur and Orville Wright produced a series of Wright Flyer aircraft models, starting with the first successful flight in a heaver-than-air machine (1903). Their Military Flyer models were demonstrated to the US Army, in test flights here at Fort Myer, Virginia, USA. The first demonstration was on 28 June 1909, with the aircraft purchased by the Aeronautical Division of the US Army Signal Corps on 2 August 1909. This postcard was published circa 1909 by the G. M. Cramer Company.
