Wind vane. This device is used to indicate wind direction, and to help forecast changes in the weather. The vane (right) catches the wind, with the arrow (right) indicating the direction the wind is coming from. The static compass letters (lower left) indicate the direction of north (N), south (S), east (E) and west (W). This artwork dates from around 1930.
