GeoSphere satellite mosaic of the whole Earth centred on the North Pole. The Prime Meridian of longitude is oriented toward the right. The North Pole is an ocean area, covered by the pale-blue permanent ice cap. The North Pole is ringed by land masses: Eurasia at the top of the frame, North America at the bottom and the white triangular island of Greenland near the centre. This view was constructed by combining thousands of satellite images, each selected for its lack of cloud and representation of surface features.
