Description
Weather vane. Weather vane, used for indicating the direction of the wind during weather forecast- ing, on top of a building. The vane has a shape representing a man on a donkey attached to a pivoted bar which has an arrow at the other end. Beneath this bar are four spikes which point in the direction of the four main compass points. The compass points are each indicated by their initial letter, these being: North, East, South and west (marked with an O"). When the wind blows, the pressure of the air causes the pivoted bar to rotate so that the arrow points in the direction from which the wind is coming. Photographed on the Ile de Re, France."
