Volcanic fire, artwork published in Specula Physico-Mathematico-Historica (1696), an encyclopedia of science by the German monk and author Johann Zahn (1641-1707). The text at upper left is in Latin. The main artwork shows fires started by a volcano destroying a city. Ladders are being used to rescue people from collapsing and burning buildings.
