US forestry, early 20th century. Large tree being felled by two men using a large two-man crosscut felling saw (resting against trunk). They are standing on planks wedged into notches cut into the trunk using axes. Photographed at Gettysburg, Clallam County, Washington State, USA. This photograph dates from the period 1905 to 1945. Clallam County was founded in 1854.
