Artist's Description

Uranus from Miranda, illustration. Miranda, a moon of the gas giant planet Uranus (upper centre), orbits Uranus at a distance of around 130,000 kilometres. Miranda is less than 500 kilometres in diameter, but some of its cliffs are over 20 kilometres high. It is thought that it has been shattered and reformed several times in its past. Uranus (50,000 kilometres across) is around 3 billion kilometres from the Sun. It is unusual in that it rotates on its side. Surface temperatures on Miranda are around minus 213 degrees Celsius.
