Tropic of capricorn. A sign denotes the parallel of latitude 23.5 degrees south of the equator. Latitudes to the south of the tropic of capricorn are in the southern temperate zone, whilst latitudes between the tropic of capricorn and the tropic of cancer to the north are in the tropics. The sun is directly overhead at noon on the solstice of the 21st of December. Photographed in Namibia.
