Description
Thomson galvanometer. Historical illustration of a form of the mirror galvanometer patented in 1858 by British physicist William Thomson (1824-1907, later Lord Kelvin). This version has two coils (round). A galvanometer measures an electrical current by the magnetic deflection it produces. Artwork from 'Electricite' (1911) by Max de Nansouty, part of the 'Les merveilles de la science' series of 1867-1891 by Louis Figuier.
