Artist's Description

The Blue Snowball Nebula, or NGC7662, is a planetary nebula in the constellation Andromeda, located about 5600 light years from Earth. The nebula is an expanding shell of glowing gas that has been ejected by a dying, low-mass star. Planetary nebulae are relatively short-lived phenomena, lasting a few tens of thousands of years, compared to a typical stellar lifetime of several billion years.
