Swallowed trinkets. X-rays of four children who have swallowed trinkets that were embedded within sweets. Small children often choked on such trinkets and ingestion was occasionally fatal. These X-rays, taken by the US laryngologist Chevalier Jackson (1865-1958) in the early 1930s, were presented to the US congress to support legislation to prevent such sweets being sold. On
