Description
Sundogs with halo. View of sundogs on either side and a halo around the setting sun. Sundogs, or parhelia, are luminous and sometimes colourful areas which appear on both sides of the sun at the same elevation in the sky. Both the sundogs and the halo are caused by the refraction of sunlight in hexagonal ice crystals present in the atmosphere. Photographed on Baffin Island, Northwest Territories, Canada.
