Artist's Description

Starfish. Orange marble starfish (Fromia monilis) resting on a coral reef. A starfish typically has 5 arms radiating outward from a central disc, where its mouth opens towards the bottom. Tube feet located on the undersides of the arms are used for movement. A starfish does not have a brain. Instead, coordination is controlled by one or more rings of nerves that surround the oesophagus. Photographed off Sabah, Malaysia.
