Description
A single electron forms a spiral track in the magnetic field of the 10-inch (25 cm) bubble chamber at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, in California. As it loses energy in ionizing the liquid hydrogen which fills the bubble chamber, the electron becomes less & less resistant to the force of the magnetic field & therefore curls round more tightly. Electron spirals like this are a common feature of bubble chamber photographs. Note: this is the uncleaned version of A138/020 & A138/050, Fig. 3.9 in PARTICLE EXPLOSION.
