Description
SpaceX Dragon capsule mission control. View of the space station flight control room in the Mission Control Center at NASA's Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas, as flight controllers support rendezvous and capture operations of the unpiloted SpaceX Dragon capsule. The Dragon capsule was designed and manufactured by the private space transportation company SpaceX under the NASA COTS (Commercial Orbital Transportation Services) initiative, set up to encourage private companies to ship cargo to the International Space Station (ISS) after the retirement of the shuttle program in 2011. On 25th May 2012 Dragon became the first commercial spacecraft to successfully rendezvous with and be attached to the ISS. Photographed on 25th May 2012.
