Description
SpaceX Crew Demo-1 after launch, ascending into space. SpaceX Demonstration Mission 1 (SpX-DM1) launched at 02:39 local time (07:49 UTC) on 2 March 2019. This was the first orbital test of the Dragon 2 spacecraft, intended to take crew and cargo to the International Space Station (ISS). The launch took place atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket as part of NASA's commercial crew program (Commercial Crew Development). The Crew Dragon 2 spacecraft successfully docked to the ISS on 3 March 2019. It was not crewed, instead carrying a test dummy known as the Anthropomorphic Test Device (ATD), wearing SpaceX's custom flight suit. The launch took place from Launch Pad 39A at the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA.
