South-west England, seen from space. Mosaic of satellite images showing the south-west part of England. This frame includes the counties of Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset, and covers about 250 km east-to-west. The colours in this image approximate to natural tones. Most of the land here is green, reflecting the dominance of agriculture in the region. The two large, brownish areas near centre are Exmoor (upper) and Dartmoor, both of which are National Parks. Urban areas are shown as pale brown, such as Bristol (top right corner) and Plymouth (on coast below centre). The data for this image were gathered by Landsat satellites.
