Snails (class Gastropoda) on the bud of a plant. Snails are gastropods, a type of mollusc with a one-piece coiled shell and flattened muscular foot with a head bearing tentacles (not seen). The shell protects the snail's soft unsegmented body and the snail will retreat inside its shell when alarmed.
