Artist's Description

Skylab spacewalk. US astronaut and Skylab 3 pilot, Jack Lousma (born 1936) during an extravehicular activity (EVA, spacewalk). During this EVA he and astronaut Owen Garriott deployed the twin pole solar shield to help shade the Orbital Workshop (OWS) on the Skylab space station. Skylab was the first space station launched and operated by NASA. It orbited the Earth from 1973 to 1979. Photographed on 6th August 1973.
