Description
Skylab space station. View of the Skylab space station as seen from the Skylab 4 Command and Services Module (CSM) during the final fly-around before returning to Earth on 8 February 1974. The space station is seen against a cloud-covered Earth. The solar shield (orange) is visible in the foreground covering the orbital workshop; at lower left is one solar array, after being successfully deployed during the Skylab 2 mission. Skylab 4 was launched on 16 November 1973 with three astronauts onboard: Gerald P. Carr, Edward G. Gibson and William R. Pogue. In the Skylab space station they observed comet Kohoutek, the Earth and the Sun, and occupied it for 84 days.
