Artist's Description

Sketch of Botany Bay. Map drawn by James Cook (1728-1779) of Botany Bay in New South Wales, Australia. Cook was a British explorer whose three voyages in the Pacific region during the late 1700s completed much of the world map. During his first voyage (1768-1771), Cook and his crew landed at Botany Bay where they spent several days drawing maps and collecting specimens, before continuing north.
