Skeleton lifting a box correctly. Side view X- ray. This image shows the correct method of lifting heavy objects using the leg muscles in a crouched position with the spine straight. The incorrect method uses the lower back muscles with the spine bent, which can result in a back injury. For the incorrect position see image P100/184.
