Description
Skeletal muscle cells, fluorescence light micrograph. This muscle type is found in the arms and legs and other skeletal muscles, where it is responsible for voluntary muscle movements such as walking, talking and lifting. Fluorescent markers have been used to highlight proteins in the actin filaments (red, part of the cytoskeleton) and cell nuclei (blue, DAPI stain). Actin is essential for the structural integrity and function of muscle. This sample is from rabbit tissue.
