Silesian mines and industry, 19th century. Illustration of factories and mines in Silesia. Silesia, now mostly in Poland, has been mined for numerous ores. This site was owned by the Donnersmarck-Hutte company from Germany. Artwork from volume 9 (1870) of a republication of 'Les Grandes Usines', a multi-volume work on French industry by journalist and author Julien Turgan (1824-1887).
