Description
Shellfish toxicity research. Researcher using a rotary evaporator as part of research to test for the presence of toxins in shellfish such as mussels and oysters. These can be contaminated by algae, some of which produce harmful toxins that can poison humans. Effects range from diarrhoea to paralysis by neurotoxins. Photographed in a laboratory of the French marine research institute IFREMER, Nantes, France.
