MODEL RELEASED. Salivary gland tumour. Face of a young patient with a large tumour in the right parotid salivary gland. There are three pairs of salivary glands in the head. The parotid glands are the largest and are located at the back of the jaw just in front of the ears. Tumours of gland tissue are termed adenomas. If it is found to be malignant, it would be termed an adenocarcinoma (cancerous gland tumour). Treatment would involve surgical excision followed by radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
