Description
Ring-necked parakeets (Psittacula krameri). Also known as the rose-ringed parakeet, this bird is popular as a pet and has successfully adapted to urban habitats following escapes from captivity. It feeds on buds, fruits, vegetables, nut, berries and seeds. The male has a black ring around his neck, whereas the females (as here) have no neck markings. Photographed in the UK in autumn, perched on branches of a field maple tree (Acer campestre).
