Description
Barrels of radioactive waste being compressed ready for storage at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Tennessee, USA. Each of these yellow barrels contains solid low-level wastes such as contaminated glass, metal, rags and equipment. The supercompaction" equipment seen in the background compresses the barrels to one-fifth of their original size. They are then stored in concrete vaults."
