Pterosaur, flying next to human, artwork. Pterosaurs were flying reptiles that lived 220-65 million years ago. They ranged in size from the very small, with wingspans of around 25 centimetres, to the extremely large, with wingspans of 11 metres or more. The pterosaur depicted here belongs to the Azhdarchidae family which includes some of the largest flying animals ever recorded.
