Description
Propene, molecular model. Atoms are represented by spheres (carbon: black, hydrogen: white) with the bonds between them as grey sticks. A double bond is represented by two grey sticks. Propene (C3H6) is an unsaturated organic compound. It is an alkene and is widely produced as a raw ingredient for the production of polypropylene. Alkenes have a carbon-carbon double bond (upper centre), as opposed to alkanes which have a carbon-carbon single bond. For an image of propane, the equivalent alkane, see image C001/0720.
