Description
Production and decay of a B-zero meson in the CDF detector at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) near Chicago. The computer display shows the detector in cross-section, outlined in white. An unseen proton & antiproton, accelerated to high energy in Fermilab's Tevatron collider, annihilate at centre. Among the particles created from their energy is the B-zero, which consists of a bottom antiquark bound with a down quark. The B-zero decays immediately, unseen, to a J/psi and a K-zero-star, also unseen, which in turn decay to two muons (green tracks), a kaon (red) and a pion (yellow). Other particles created in the proton- antiproton collision are shown in dark blue.
