Description
Carpet fibres. Polarised light micrograph of a cross-section through carpet fibre filaments. There are two types of fibres seen here; trilobal fibres (light blue and orange) and square hollow (red and dark blue) fibres. The tilobal and square hollow fibres are particularly good at hiding soil", that is they make the carpet appear cleaner than it really is. This is particularly useful when carpeting large areas such as public buildings. Magnification x125 at 35mm size."
