Description
Planet ingestion. Artwork of planetary ingestion by a blue supergiant star. The eruption seen has been caused by a gas giant planet colliding with its star. Giant planets close to their parent star are thought to have migrated inwards from further out. They may reach a stable orbit or end up plunging into their parent star. This has been deduced from the presence of non-stellar material in some stars.
