Penis disorders, historical medical illustration. Figs 1 and 2 are cases of genital warts, Figs 3 and 5 are syphilis, and Fig 4 is psoriasis, an autoimmune disease. Syphilis and genital warts are sexually transmitted infections. Syphilis is caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum and genital warts are caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV).
