Description
Light microscopy of Pacinian corpuscles found in the dermis of the skin. Resembling sliced onions when seen in section, these are encapsulated sensory receptors with a central axon and concentric membranous layers. They are responsive to vibration and compression. They occur mainly in skin especially the palm of the hand, in some joint capsules and in mesenteries of the gut. Magnification x120 when printed at 10 cm.
