Artist's Description
MODEL RELEASED. Orthodontic examination of a boy's bite. The bite is the correct overlap of the teeth when the jaws are closed. This allows the correct functioning of the teeth while biting and chewing food. Poor alignment of the teeth may cause problems that need to be corrected by the use of an orthodontic brace (not seen). Small metal brackets are glued to each tooth and connected by a wire. The wire is tightened and slowly, over weeks and months, corrects the teeth alignment. The procedure is usually performed on children, though adult teeth can also be realigned.
