Optical image of an extremely dense stellar field in our galaxy, the Milky Way, in a region between the constellations of Sagittarius and Scorpius. The brightest star at bottom left is Gamma Sagittarii, a giant star which lies at about 125 light years away from Earth. At centre left two globular star clusters are visible. They are NGC 6528 (extreme left) and NGC 6522. The brighter star at top left is W Sagittarii, a cepheid variable star with a period of 7.5947 days.
