Octahedral crystals of pyrite (iron sulphide). Pyrite is the most widespread sulphide mineral (FeS2). It occurs in magnificent crystals world wide, notably Rio Tinto (Spain), Colorado and Arizona (USA). It forms striated, cubic, octahedral or pyritohedral crystals and occurs in plutonic, volcanic, sedimentary & metamorphic rocks.
