Description
Number fingerspelling, 15th century. This page is from 'Summa de arithmetica' (1494) by Italian mathematician Luca Pacioli (c.1447-1517), also known as Luca di Borgo. This work included many algebraic and geometrical developments and solutions, including the modern basis of accounting and bookkeeping systems. This page shows Pacioli's version of a finger alphabet and counting system originally described by Bede in 710 AD.
