Description
Nuclear decontamination workers using sandblasting equipment. The workers are wearing sealed radiation protection suits and breathing apparatuses while they decontaminate a radioactive nuclear site. Sandblasting is used to remove the radioactive particles embedded into the metal that covers the concrete-lined walls. The workers' radiation protection suits are being cooled by a flow of air, inside the inflated exterior coverings, to prevent the workers overheating. Photographed at the French nuclear research centre at Fontenay-aux-Roses, France.
