Description
New York City skyscrapers. Aerial view from 1936 of skyscrapers at the southern tip of Manhattan, New York City, USA. This view looks almost due west. A large number of new skyscrapers were built here in the 1920s and 1930s. The two tallest are at centre. The one in front is the Cities Service Building (now known as 70 Pine Street), reaching a height of 290 metres (completed 1932). Behind it is the Bank of Manhattan Trust building (now known as 40 Wall Street), reaching a height of 283 metres (completed 1930). At lower left is the skyscraper 120 Wall Street (122 metres, 1930). Photographed by the Dallin Aerial Survey Company on 26 April 1936.
