New York Blue Gene supercomputer. This supercomputer uses Blue Gene computing architecture from IBM. It is located in the New York Center for Computational Sciences (NYCCS), at Brookhaven National Laboratory, New York, USA. It began operating in 2007, when it was among the world's most powerful supercomputers. It is used for climate science research and nanotechnology calculations. It is also used for computational biology, nuclear and high energy physics, and astrophysics. Photographed in 2008.
