Description
New Caledonia, satellite image. North is at top. Water is blue, vegetation is green, clouds are white, and shallow coastal areas are light blue. New Caledonia, a French territory, is a grouping of islands in the western Pacific Ocean, near Australia. The main island of Grande Terre (lower centre) is 350 kilometres long and 70 kilometres wide. Above and right of Grand Terre are the Loyalty Islands. At top right (not part of New Caledonia) is the island of Efate, part of Vanuatu. Image data obtained by the Landsat 5 and Landsat 7 satellites.
