Mouth cancer. Light micrograph of a section through a squamous cell carcinoma (SCC, centre left) from the mouth of a smoker. This is the most common form of oral cancer. Squamous cells are a type of epithelial cell that line body cavities, such as the mouth. This cancer is more prevalent in men than women. The main risk factors are smoking and alcohol consumption. Magnification: x60 when printed at 10 centimetres tall. Human tissue.
