Light micrograph showing the microscopical aspect of a menopausal ovary. The cortex is very thin and lacks follicles. Most of the ovary is occupied by large corpora albicantia, some of them of about 0.5 cm in diameter. The clear structures are the late corpora lutea in an advanced stage of luteolysis.
